ghostwood a/v is an audio-visual installation which investigates the psychogeography of ontario’s northern wilderness. it is primarily focused on the use of infrasound, provided by specially-constructed tactile transducers, and is supported with a single-channel video component.

“in late august, 2011, two friends set off on a canoe trip to canada’s northern georgian bay area. the purpose of their trip was to do an audio-visual documentation of a landscape that influenced many canadian artists, most notably members the group of seven.

upon reviewing the footage, however, anomalies were found that went unnoticed at the time of the recording.in particular, the spectral, drifting sounds of radios and engines were revealed to be almost omnipresent. most unusual, however, was the fact that most of the audio recordings conatined a significant, unidentified presence in the infrasound range. these frequencies are often associated with locations that are purportedly haunted.

a decent set of speakers or headphones is a must, a subwoofer is a plus.
